UNC introduced Bill Belichick as its head football coach on December 12, one day after announcing his hire. An internal email said athletics director Bubba Cunningham and three other officials would be "airborne most of the morning" and back at Raleigh-Durham International Airport at 10:48 a.m. ET.
N800EM, a Hawker 800XP, flew Greensboro-Raleigh-Atlantic City-Baltimore-Raleigh that morning and landed at RDU at 10:25 a.m. ET. The route and timing make it a plausible explanation for the officials' travel.
The university's public-records response did not include the flight plan referenced in the email. Without that attachment, the records do not confirm that UNC chartered N800EM or that the four officials were aboard, so the connection remains probable rather than confirmed.
