The second jet of Georgia's Knoxville airlift beat the first one home

Both Delta 717s were on the ground in Athens within six minutes of each other after the overtime win.

Georgia beat Tennessee 44-41 in overtime at Neyland Stadium on Sept. 13, 2025, before a sellout crowd of 101,915, winning on Josh McCray's 1-yard run in the extra period.

Two Delta Boeing 717s carried the traveling party home, and the second one out was the first one down. It left Knoxville's McGhee Tyson at 9:43 p.m. ET, five minutes behind its partner, and landed at Athens-Ben Epps at 10:06 p.m., six minutes ahead of it. Both jets then ferried empty to Atlanta, where Georgia's football charters are based. Transportation Department charter filings for Athens list the matching September movements.

The filings cover the flights, not the manifest, so how the traveling party split between the two aircraft is not part of the public record.
