Georgia's 2024 season ended on Jan. 2, 2025 with a 23-10 Sugar Bowl loss to Notre Dame in a College Football Playoff quarterfinal. The game was pushed back a day after a man drove a truck into a New Year's crowd on Bourbon Street; official attendance was 57,267 in a stadium that had sold 68,400 tickets.

By late that night the airlift was winding down in Georgia. Two Delta Boeing 717s left Athens-Ben Epps for Atlanta minutes apart, the first at 11:47 p.m. ET and the second at 11:52 p.m., the empty repositioning legs that close a Georgia football charter weekend. The team's inbound leg from New Orleans does not appear in the Athens charter records available, so the return itinerary is only partly documented.
