Rice Farewell Makes N1PU’s Houston Run Look Like a Drop-Off

Rice president Reginald DesRoches posted a farewell photo of Tommy McClelland at Rice Stadium on August 13, and McClelland replied by thanking him and the “entire Rice Family.” The post came five days after N1PU flew from West Lafayette to Sugar Land, spent 26 minutes on the ground and returned to Purdue University Airport.

Taken together with the aircraft’s documented August 5 trip carrying McClelland and his family to Purdue, the new Rice post makes a transition-related drop-off the strongest explanation for the August 8 outing. A return to Sugar Land soon would fit a pickup, but that remains a forecast until the aircraft actually goes back.
