Washington Paid $62,488 for a Second Sugar Bowl Return Flight

Washington needed more than one charter to bring its Sugar Bowl operation home after beating Texas 37-31 in New Orleans and earning a place in the national championship. University records show the school paid $62,487.50 for a separate 30-seat Saab 2000 flight to Boeing Field.

N506FR operated the trip as FRG131 early on January 2, stopping at Centennial Airport outside Denver before continuing to Seattle. The public expense ledger lists the New Orleans-to-Seattle charter but not the technical stop.

The university record establishes the flight's Washington postseason purpose and cost. It does not identify the individual passengers.
